2010 NEAEE Outstanding Educator Award

The New England Association for Employment in Education (NEAEE) is happy to announce that the association will award $500 to an educator who will begin his/her professional career in the fall of 2010. Applicants for this award may be teachers, counselors and/or administrators. Applicants must attend a college/university that holds membership in NEAEE. See Eligibility information below.

The intent of this award is to recognize and acknowledge the professional aspirations of an outstanding educator as well as provide financial assistance to the new professional. The recipient of the Outstanding Educator's Award will be an honored guest at the association's annual conference in 2010.

ELIGIBILITY:
Candidates must:
  • Be completing either their Bachelor or Masters Degree at an NEAEE member college/university.
  • Have passed the appropriate test(s) for Educator Licensure/Certification in his/her respective state.
  • Have aspirations to teach in the New England area.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Compose no more than a two page essay on the topic “As an Educator, How Do I Plan to Make a Difference in the Lives of my Students.” The essay should elaborate on how the award will assist the applicant in his/her first year as an educator.
  • Submit the essay along with a resume, unofficial transcript, validation of successful completion of respective state tests, and the name and contact information for a reference from a professor in the student’s Education Department

REVIEW PROCESS:
  • The Awards Committee will review all applications and make the selection.
  • The Committee will consider and weigh: the candidate's passion and commitment to the profession, breadth of experience working with youth, and initiative and professional promise as gleaned from their resume, essay and reference.
  • A member of the Awards Committee will notify the recipient.
  • The recipient will be invited to attend the annual NEAEE Conference and address the group. NEAEE will reimburse the recipient for any incurred expenses associated with attending the meeting.
  • The recipient will agree to allow NEAEE to release information regarding the award and the recipient to the media and allow the same information to appear on the NEAEE website.
